Surviving the Season: Expert Strategies for Navigating Holiday Stress with Your Partner

The holiday season can be a happy and exciting time, but also a stressful time for you and your partner.  At times it can be challenging, but here are some expert strategies that can help you both survive the holiday stress together.

Communicate Expectations: Have an open conversation about your expectations for the holiday season.  Understand what yours and your partner's priorities, desires and concerns are.

Set Boundaries: Establish boundaries and what you are comfortable with for this season.  This could be deciding on which holiday engagements you will attend or setting limitations on spending and different commitments.

Plan Together: Create a joint plan on how you will be spending your time and money.  Plan who is responsible for which gifts and how you would like to spend and manage your finances together. Decide on how you will split your time between families, which events are a priority and how you will manage your schedule.

Divide Responsibilities: Come up with a plan on who is responsible for what tasks.  Who will be responsible for the cooking, cleaning, shopping, wrapping and decorating?  Deciding this ahead of time will ease the stress on both of you.

Take Time for Each Other: Amid the chaos, prioritize quality time with your partner. Plan activities or moments together to reconnect and unwind. It could be a quiet evening at home, a walk or a movie night.

Reflect and Appreciate: Take a moment to reflect on what the holiday means to both of you.  Express the gratitude and appreciation you have for one another.  Appreciating each others effort

Remember, navigating holiday stress as a couple is a joint effort that requires patience, compromise, and mutual support. Prioritize your relationship and find joy in celebrating together throughout the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
